BCS unfortunately does not spell TCU

The whole season I have been backing Texas to be in the National Championship game against Florida just so that Colt McCoy can prove he is a better QB than Tim Tebow, and so that Texas can prove its better than Florida.

Florida is a good team, but they are not as GREAT as everyone on TV thinks. Florida has played a total of 1 ranked opponent (at the time #4 and currently #15 LSU) and they only scored 13 points against them! Not to mention they have had a number of close games that they needed late scores and last minutes stands to hold onto wins. I know every good team will always have a game that requires them show they can win the close ones, but how many close games against weak teams do you need to have until someone stands up and goes "hey I bet if you actually played a quality opponent you would most likely lose!" The SEC is a good conference, but they ARE NOT as good as they are portrayed. I saw a gaudy stat about how the Gators have outscored their non-conference opponents 181-12. Sounds like complete domination right? Wrong! The Gators played Charleston Southern, Troy, and Florida International. I'm going to go out on a limb and say those teams would get beat that bad if they played the Washington State Cougars! Florida State is the missing non-conference game out of that list, but I'm typing this as the game is going on so I dont have any idea how many points FSU will put up. I loved FSU when I was little, but they are no where near as good as they used to be.

Now for Texas, Texas has played 2 ranked opponents (then ranked 20, Oklahoma and then ranked 14, Oklahoma State which is now ranked #12) and had a nail bitter against Oklahoma, which is understandable, because it is a huge rivalry game. Meanwhile they absolutely crushed Oklahoma State 41-14. Now Texas hasn't needed to make more than 1 late drive to finish off an opponent. Oklahoma is the only team to come within a touchdown of Texas all season. Colt McCoy hasn't had the season people thought he should have, but still is having a Heisman caliber season. Maybe if he got a small cut above his eye(your forehead bleeds like crazy even on small cuts if you didnt know) and then after the game make some cheesy statement that his already dominant team will play better than the rest of his weak opponents for the rest of the season, while sounding like he just sprinted to the microphone stand and devoured 4 hot dogs, then people will start looking at the MOST WINNING-EST QUARTERBACK IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY as a great player. Pretty sure Tebow can't and won't ever be able to say that. Now for Texas' non-conference opponents. They too haven't really played anyone to write home about. They have played UCF, UTEP, Wyoming, and Louisiana-Monroe. UCF is probably the toughest team out of the bunch seeing as how they beat #23 Houston and are at least semi-on the nation radar. UTEP as well has beat Houston, but they don't have any other major wins. Its all opinion and in MY opinion the Big 12 is better this year than the SEC is. I believe the Longhorns have played more quality opponents than the Gators have. The Gators have played 5 games within 10 points. The Longhorns... only 2. The record of Florida's opponents is 57-60 while Texas' is 72-66. Even after all these stats and me hating on Florida, I reeeeealllly hope Nebraska beats Texas in the Big 12 Championship!

There is one team I have yet to mention that deserves to play for the National Championship more than both of these teams, and that team is TCU. TCU has played 3 ranked opponents, BYU, Utah, and Clemson. They crushed both BYU and Utah and showed they could grind out a win against Clemson. Their non-conference opponents? Lowly Texas State(7-4), Virginia, and #18 Clemson. Oh wait those were 2 teams from major BCS conferences and those two BCS conference games are 1 more than Florida and Texas have played combined in their non-conference schedule. Not to mention Clemson is currently ranked #18 and won the ACC Atlantic Divison. Virginia is down this year for sure, but they still deserve respect due to that they are playing harder opponents on a regular basis that a team from a mid-major conference. TCU has shown all season they are a step ahead of everyone else. They have scored at least 38 points in their last 7 games. TCU deserves to play in the National Championship, but unless Texas loses they won't get to. The winner of the SEC will play for the National Championship against Texas if Texas win's against Nebraska, but if Texas loses then TCU would move to #3 and then ultimately move up to #2 after the two SEC teams play and one of them loses. So if you like rooting for the underdog or you would love to see Tim Tebow's legacy take a hit by losing to TCU in the National Championship, then I hope you are going to be cheering for the Cornhuskers next Saturday(Sorry Jeff). If Texas wins, well then I hope they destroy Florida!
